Fall- final 2018
For my junior year collection I began looking at new objectivity, a photography movement during the 1920s in Germany. The pieces focus on formal lines, shapes, and repetition as a reaction against the rapidly industrializing society. My work takes formal elements from the images and adds a sculptural and experimental element. I played with pleats and different folding techniques that were done first in paper the translated to fabric. The collection consists of 4 looks, two dresses, a skirt, top, and pants. This was also the first year I learned about cut and sew knits. I appreciate the simplicity of the lines and shapes my silhouettes create. I have included photos from my process journal, such as research and sketches, as well as my final lineup of the entire collection, and photos from my look book.
